Aperture 3 Book on iBook Store

June 11, 2010 in Uncategorized by David Schloss 0 comments

We’re very bully on the new world of electronic publishing, and super-stoked about the iPad and the iBook store. The second that Apple announced that any publisher could provide books on the new online bookstore, we were in.

We already have gone through the process to get ISBN numbers, which is one of the major issues in being a publisher.

For the next few days we struggled (and I really mean struggled, there is very little information out there on this) with getting our PDF-formatted eBook into the epub format. But once we got it all into the groove (thanks to some time with Adobe InDesign CS5) we were up on the store and under 24 hours later, our first book is live.

Which brings us to our next point— Mac Create is looking for technology writers that never felt comfortable with the whole mega-publishing system. (Book packagers, book publishers, small advances, small royalties—they’re dead.

If you’ve got an idea for a Mac-centric book, contact us at info@maccreate.com. Give us an idea about what your’e looking to write and we’ll give you our thoughts about the process and about how our business model works. In a nutshell though it works just like the Apple iTunes and iBook store model. We take a cut, everything else is yours. No complex residuals, no managing editor to have to track down. Just us and our staff of writers, editors and producers to help you out.
