The System is Down, The System is Down

January 21, 2010 in Uncategorized by David Schloss 0 comments

center_strongbad_technologyWhat a crazy day. While I was off shooting a workflow video with Joe McNally in San Diego, (which is being deluged with rain and pestilence), our server farm was experiencing a double-drive failure on the RAID 10 rack. What does that mean? It means a statistical unlikelyhood in hardware failure caused us to have to spend about five hours restoring the server to a new rack from the hourly backups. Ugh.

All’s well now, but it was a harrowing day. Sorry for the outages.

Much thanks to Alex and the guys at Sliqua.com for getting us back up so rapidly, and without data loss.

And if you’re not familiar with the reference in the title of this post…
